Duration: 2 hours
Offered in English
ABOUT YOUR HOST:
I am a kanaka (Hawaiian) born and raised on Maui. I've seen the good and bad of these islands, and I've also lived it. In 2013, I graduated from a prestigious Hawaiian school, which helped in my understanding of the corruption not only here at home but all over the world.
WHAT WE'LL DO:
Step through time as you are immersed in stories of Hawaiʻi from the year 1200 to present day, and learn of what truly lies "beyond paradise." Storytelling is a Hawaiian tradition as our language was originally a spoken language / oral. Missionaries later introduced the writing system that we use today. This truly is a unique opportunity to spend time with a native Hawaiian and to learn about our kingdom, it's history, and our culture (including ghost stories... if you dare, muahaha!)
WHAT ELSE YOU SHOULD KNOW:
Dress comfortably for a mix of hot and chilly weather.
