About your host

Ian
Ian (Aliʻinoa)

ʻO Aliʻinoa koʻu inoa waena, kēlā koʻu inoa Hawaiʻi. No Maui mai au a ʻo wau he Pahukoa mai koʻolau. Aia i laila ka wai a Kāne, kahi akua kahiko. E hele mai ʻoukou a e aʻo e pili ana ko mākou moʻomeheu Hawaiʻi, he mea waiwai.

My middle name is Aliʻinoa, that's my Hawaiian name. I was born and raised on Maui, and I am a Pahukoa from the ko'olau side of the island. That's where the waters of Kāne flow -- one of the ancient gods. Come and learn about our rich history and culture.

What we'll do

Upon arriving, you will be greeted and escorted based on ancient protocol. Then continue on to traditional Hawaiian games such as ulu maika (Hawaiian bowling), ʻōʻō ihe (spear throwing), kōnane (checkers), or haka moa (arm wrestling, standing). Those games and more were especially popular during Makahiki season.

Also, try our implements such as the ʻulīʻulī (rattle), pahu (drums), ipu heke ʻole (gourd), pūʻili (split bamboo), and more.

After sunset, the dinner feast begins! Enjoy an authentic mixed-plate of kalua pork, laulau (also pork), lomi salmon, poke (raw fish), poi (made from taro), and chicken long rice.

While satisfying your belly, enjoy live Polynesian music and hula, intertwined with the story of Hawai'iloa and our myths and legends. Our fireknife dancer is an exclusive addon, contact host for more information.
